Bags ask something different of a fabric: it has to carry weight without stretching into a sock. These patterns use cotton, linen and cotton blends, tight stitches and reinforced handles, and each one tells you how much the finished bag stretches when loaded.
They are also a good way to use up a single cone of cotton. Most take one skein of worsted weight cotton and an afternoon or two.
