You may
- Make the item as many times as you like for yourself, as gifts, or for charity.
- Sell finished items you made from the pattern, in any quantity, at markets, in your own shop or online. We ask that you credit the pattern by name and the studio as the designer in the listing or on the tag, and that you do not use our photos to sell your items.
- Print the pattern for your own use, and keep copies on any devices you own.
- Teach the techniques in the pattern in a class, as long as each student buys their own copy.
- Adapt the pattern for your own use. Changing the yarn, the size or the colors does not need our permission.
You may not
- Share, email, upload, post or resell the PDF or any part of it, including translations, rewrites or charts made from it, in any form or for any price.
- Copy the text or photos into a book, blog, video or another pattern.
- Claim the design as your own or publish a pattern derived from it.
- Use our photographs for anything other than looking at them.
Why the file is personalized
Every PDF carries the name and order number of the buyer on the last page. That is how we know where a shared copy came from. If a file is shared, we may close the account it was bought with and stop further downloads. We never contact your customers or interfere with the items you sell.
Free patterns
Free patterns, both the ones on the learn pages and the ones in the shop at zero price, carry exactly the same license. Link to the page rather than copying the pattern.
If you want to do something this page does not cover, such as producing finished items at scale for a retailer or including a pattern in a kit, ask us. The answer is often yes.
